HMA - Chris Bryant

Chris Bryant and HMA Judith Macgregor had a trip on one of the new electric green buses

Chris Bryant is in Mexico - 17 September

This morning, Foreign Office Minister for Mexico, Chris Bryant visited the Zero-Carbon Emissions Corridor in Mexico City. This project aims to improve public transport whilst being sustainable, by creating  a zero emissions corridor in one of the most important avenues in Mexico City. Chris Bryant was joined by the British Ambassador to Mexico, Judith Macgregor and local authorities during his trip. Chris and Judith even had a trip on one of the new electric green buses,  which use cutting edge technology to reduce emissions whilst also remaining affordable for passengers. The new buses are carrying over 100,000 passengers every day!

During a  press  interview  at the end of the visit, Chris  said it had been great to see projects like the zero emissions corridor here in Mexico, and to see that Mexico is taking sustainable measures to promote development. He said Mexico is a leader in Latin America, especially in the areas of sustainable development and climate change. Chris added that Mexico and the UK are also working  together promoting actions to address the impacts of Climate Change in a region where nearly 66 cities are threat under floods. At the moment the relation between UK and Mexico has been really productive and both countries are working to achieve a global agreement to transit to a low-carbon and high-growth economy at the next summits of in Pittsburgh and Copenhaguen.

The British Embassy in Mexico has financed part of the  research for this project through the programme Sustainable Development Dialogue between Mexico and the UK.
