Studies show that rainfall in eastern Africa has fallen by 15% since 1980 and is predicted to fall by the same amount over the next 25 years.  As a result, some of the areas traditionally used by the Maasai people to graze their cattle have already become desert.

On Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro’s glacial cover has retreated by over 50% since 1962 and it is suggested that its ice fields are likely to disappear by 2020 – the first time this has happened for 11,000 years.
